How can I recover a deleted project?

If you delete any data you want back, you can restore a backup. We have designed Story Planner to save Automatic Backups whenever you exit or close the app, as long as you have made changes.

Your automatic backups are in iCloud Drive > Story Planner > Backups.

How do automatic backups work?

Story Planner saves Automatic Backups every time you exit the app or close it, as long as you have made changes. The app saves a maximum of 20 backups by default, but you can increase this number in the app settings.

How do I create a manual backup?

To create a manual backup in Story Planner, just open the app settings > Backups > Create a Manual Backup. A new backup will be created.

How do I restore a backup?

Your backups are stored in an iCloud Drive folder or in a local folder on your device if you have exported them. You can restore your backups through the “Restore Backup” and “Import Backup from Files” options.

To restore a backup, open the app settings > Backups > Restore Backup.

A new window will open with a list of all available backups. This will show you the day and time the backup was created. They also show the backup size on the right, or a cloud with an arrow. Please always choose a backup with a size over 0KB to make sure it contains any information. If the backup shows a cloud with an arrow to the right, the backup is in iCloud Drive, but not on the device itself, so it will be downloaded to import it. In most cases, this means that the backup was created from one of your other devices.

To restore de backup, choose it from the list and then tab on the OK button.

📌 Important! When you restore a backup, the data within that backup will overwrite all of your current projects. Please ensure that you want these changes to occur or create a manual backup before proceeding with the restoration. This is crucial in case you wish to revert to your original projects if you are dissatisfied with the changes.

How to Import a Backup from Files

To import a backup from Files, open the app settings> Backups > Import Backup from Files.

By default, this will open the iCloud Drive folder containing your backups, both those created on this device and any other devices on which you have Story Planner installed. You can choose your backup directly from here to import it, or navigate in the Files app to select another location.

How to Export a Backup

To export a backup, open the app settings > Backups > Export Backup

A new window with all the available backups will open. Choose the backup you want to export from the list and tap OK.

Wait for the export screen to open. Choose how you want to export the backup, whether it’s saving it to a location on your device, sharing it with someone, or even emailing it to yourself.
